Democrats Set to Hold Maine’s 1st District

Democrats are entering the 2026 midterm cycle in a strong position to keep Maine’s 1st Congressional District, a seat that has remained one of the party’s most important footholds in New England. The district, which includes Portland and much of southern Maine, has trended reliably blue in recent federal elections and is again expected to favor the Democratic nominee as the campaign unfolds.
